Leopard v2.2

In addition to my duties here at Lockergnome, I’m also still working on my beginner’s programming language called Leopard. The last update that I posted here detailed the fact that I was working with WeatherBug to expand the tool and integrate it with their WeatherBug Achieve curriculum for schools.
Those efforts are still underway, and we’re beginning to see some exciting adoption in an assortment of classrooms. A local newspaper even published a feature story on Leopard that included comments from a technology teacher and one of his students. They’ve been using Leopard with success, and I’m hoping to replicate those results in even more schools.
We also just released version 2.2 of the software, and this release includes support for logic, looping, and other traditional programming concepts, among other things. It’s definitely the most powerful version of the language yet, and the possibilities that are opened thanks to the new features are tremendous.
As a Lockergnome reader, whether you’re a teacher, parent, student, or just someone of any age who’s interested in computer programming, I invite you to give Leopard v2.2 a try and let me know what you think. The tool has come a long way, but it’s still just as easy to use, and you’ll be able to start creating your own Windows programs in five minutes. Check out the online help file to see how it works, and if you’re interested, visit the Web site (and the blog) and download Leopard.

It is a shame that the leopard programming language is attached to weatherbug. The language is displayed and sold in a distasteful manner, as if its adware. On top of it being displayed like adware, the language is payware, in comparison to many other programming and script languages that are free (examples AutoHotkey, AutoIt, Euphoria). Other simple and even codeless payware programming languages like Limnor (which is very good), don’t also have to be sold like adware.
The leopard programming language should have it’s own website. Any sponsors should just have links on their webpage. This nice idea of a programming language will not grow and catch on, because of the way its being sold and displayed.
