One of the many great things about Windows Vista is that it gives you more option for organizing your files. In Windows XP, for example, you could organize your files alphabetically. While in Windows Vista, along with alphabetically, you can organize your files by stacking. You can think of stacking as organizing your files in piles.

When you stack files, you can stack by any of the following:

• Name
• Date modified
• Type
• Folder
• Authors
• Tags

For example, if you stack by type, you can have all your documents in one pile and spreadsheets in another. To organize your files by stacking, in Windows Vista, open Windows Explorer, navigate to the appropriate directory and right click a blank part of a folder. Point to Stack by and click the stacking option you want to use.
