Winchat In XP

Windows XP includes a nifty little program called Winchat. By default, it does not appear on the All Program menu so many of you may not even know it exists. What it lets you to do is carry on a real time chat conversation with other users on your network. It can be a quick and easy way to communicate with someone else on a network (along the same lines as MSN messenger).

To open the program, locate the Winchat application in the Windows\System32 directory or open the Run command and type in Winchat. The Chat interface will open. Click the Dial button to call another user’s computer. Type in the name of the computer you want to chat with or select a computer from the list. Once the remote user agrees to connect with your computer, you can begin your chat session.

Sadly, Winchat doesn’t work. According to Wikipedia, SP2 of WinXP has killed it. And it’s just what we need so that my wife can call me in when it’s time for tea! Drat!! [At present we Skype each other.]

True! Not Only according to Wikipedia, But according to all poor windows users out there, that have tried and wasted their time, trying to get it work! even with all the configurations and other settings you might think would make it right, you would still get no answer! acutely winchat is a very old program and it goes back to Windows 95, the day It still worked! Well It’s been a while Microsoft Is trying to sell the same junk windows with a shiny face but old programs that were handy and useful, It’s been a while Microsoft is not bothering itself to add more new useful features, instead removing them to increase its profit!
Well so much for the windows errors, bugs & problems I have faced! It’s time to move to a new reliable platform!
Something strong something fast, handy, friendly, something like Linux.
