Add Line Numbers To A Section In A Word 2007 Document

When you have a large document and you need to refer someone to a specific section, it is sometimes easier to use line numbers. You have probably already seen documents that use line numbers within a specific section. This way you can refer an individual to a specific line, such as line 20.

Word allows you to quickly and easily add line numbers to a section within your document. Once you have your document complete (of course, it must include more than one line), simply complete the steps listed below.

  1. Click within a section or select multiple sections.
  2. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Line Numbers.
  3. Click Line Numbering Options and the click the Layout tab.
  4. In the Apply to list, click the Selected sections option.
  5. Click Line Numbers.
  6. Click the Add line numbering option.

Line numbers will automatically be added to the left side of your document.
