Insert Another File Into Your Word 2003 Document

Word lets you insert different types of objects into your document. For example, you can insert worksheets from Excel, images, media clips, and so on. You can even insert text from another document into the document you are currently working on.

In a previous tip, I outlined how to accomplish this in Word 2007. If you are using Word 2003, the steps are slightly different as described below.

To insert another file into your document:

  1. Within your document, click where you want to insert the second document.
  2. From the Insert menu, click Insert File.
  3. In the File name box, locate the file you want locate and then double click it.

One Comment

When you insert a word doc using Insert from text, you lose the formatting from the second document.

I’d like to insert a section break - then insert the second doc with different formatting and keep the second doc formatting in this section with the first section format unchanged.

Can this be done?
