There are security exploits out there that take advantage of Microsoft’s Java VM. As a result, a few Lockergnome readers have asked how this component can be uninstalled from their computer. The steps are very simple and they are outlined below:
- Click Start and type Run in the Search field.
- Type in the following command: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection java.inf,UnInstall
After clicking OK or pressing Enter, a dialog box will appear. - Click Yes to uninstall Microsoft Java VM.
- A dialog box will appear indicating that the component is being uninstalled.

Why would one need to remove MSJVM from Vista when Microsoft was ordered not to integrate it their operating systems since Windows XP SP1? It would seem to be a bit insane to do an upgrade Vista install on any OS previous to Windows XP SP1a that included MSJVM. I can acknowledge that some companies still require the use of MSJVM for their servers, but it would have been purposely installed from a download not included with Vista.
