Disable Local Group Policy Processing In Vista

Group Policies can be applied locally or as part of an Active Directory domain.
If domain administrators have applied group policies at the domain level, they may not want any policies to be applied locally. For example, if Vista users are local administrators for their own workstations, they could create local group policies that make unwanted changes to security or registry settings.
To disable Local Group Policies processing in Vista, perform the following steps:
- Open the Group Policy Management Console from a Vista computer by typing Gpmc.msc in the Search field on the Start menu.
- Within the GPMC window, find the Group Policy Object (GPO) that is linked to the Organizational Unit in which the Vista computers are located.
- Right click the GPO and selecting Edit.
- In the GPO Editor window, scroll down to Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Group Policy.
- In the right pane double click the “Turn off Local Group Policy objects processing” option.
- Click Enabled.
- Close the GPO Editor.
