Highlighting Newly Installed Programs In Vista

When you install a new program in Vista, a shortcut to the program is added to the All Programs submenu on the Start menu. On top of that, the newly installed program is highlighted for you in a different color.
Some people might like this feature, more so those who are new to the computing world. However, if you’re more of an advanced user, you might find this more of an annoyance.
You can quickly and easily disable this feature by right clicking the Start button and selecting Options. Click the Customize button next to Start menu. Uncheck the Highlight newly installed programs option.
