ClearType is enabled by default in Vista - unlike Windows XP where you had to enable it. The type face is designed to visually improve information being displayed on a laptop LCD screen. Although many people like ClearType, there are others who may choose to disable it.
To disable ClearType in Vista:
- Right click your desktop and click Personalize.
- Click Windows Color and Appearance.
- Click the Open classic appearance properties for more color option.
- Click the Effects button.
- Click the arrow under Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts.
- Click Standard.
- Click OK twice.
- Close the personalization window.
