Disable ClearType In Vista

  • No Related Post

ClearType is enabled by default in Vista - unlike Windows XP where you had to enable it. The type face is designed to visually improve information being displayed on a laptop LCD screen. Although many people like ClearType, there are others who may choose to disable it.

To disable ClearType in Vista:

  1. Right click your desktop and click Personalize.
  2. Click Windows Color and Appearance.
  3. Click the Open classic appearance properties for more color option.
  4. Click the Effects button.
  5. Click the arrow under Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts.
  6. Click Standard.
  7. Click OK twice.
  8. Close the personalization window.
