I use IBM’s Tivoli Continuous Data Protection. I have it shadow copy changed files to a second internal drive. Then I have it set to replicate to a USB hard drive whenever I plug it in. I keep this drive outside the house. It’s COMPLETELY transparent and keeps the files in native format, e.g. just .doc or .exe.
