Rehearse And Time Your Presentation In PowerPoint 2007

Posted by on Jul 27, 2007 | 2 Comments

Normally you would move from slide to slide in a PowerPoint presentation by clicking the mouse button. An alternative is to configure PowerPoint to advance to the next slide after a specified amount of time. For example, you can have PPT progress to the next slide after two minutes. However, how do you know how much time you will spend on your slides? What if you configure the automatic timing value for two minutes, but it takes you three minutes to cover all the points on a slide?

What you can do is to ensure you give yourself the right amount of time to get through a slide, is to rehearse your timings first. From the Slide Show tab, in the Set Up group, click the Rehearse Timings options. This starts your presentation in rehearsal mode with a timer in the top left hand corner. When you are finished discussing the points on one slide, click the Next button to move to the next slide. Once you reach the end of the presentation, click Yes to accept the timings.

This is a great idea in theory, unitl the audience starts asking questions during the presentation…

But how to you pick up where you left off on Rehearse Timings in PowerPoint 2007?

Do you always have to start from the beginning of the presentation if there is a timing you want to change in the middle of the presentation?
