Pownce

Let’s face it, Kevin Rose is experiencing success on levels that other entrepreneurs are completely jealous of. Digg and Revision3 are grooving right along, and as if that was not enough, it was recently announced that Rose was working on another project that was set to change the way friends communicate. The project has finally made a public appearance, and with some help from his very own friends, Kevin has launched Pownce.

First of all, it does seem like a Twitter and IM clone in a lot of ways, but I’m sure that’s a comment that they expected when they built this thing. Pownce basically enables you to share messages, files, links, and events with your friends. Just like Twitter, you create your personal network, and then share content with whoever you want (single person, personal group, public). The idea of sharing events and files is an interesting addition, and it helps the service to stand out a little bit from the competition. If you want a break from your browser, then a desktop application is available for Windows and OS X. The service is working off of an invite code system at this time, so the public opinion at large is going to have to wait until access is wide open?
