Share A Folder In Vista

Sharing a folder is Windows Vista is slightly different than sharing a folder in Windows XP. You might expect the Share button on the Windows Vista toolbar to work the same way as it did in previous versions, but it does not. Instead, it launches a wizard designed to make sharing folders easier. However, the wizard does not let you change the name of the shared folder.

To share a folder the same way you did in Windows XP:

  1. Right click the folder in Windows Explorer and click Properties.
  2. Click the Sharing tab.
  3. Click the Advanced Sharing button.
  4. Click the Share this folder option.
  5. Type in a name for the shared folder.
  6. Click OK.
