How Ultimate Is Windows Vista Ultimate?

Windows Vista Ultimate is so freakin’ ultimate that it can’t run the ultimate add-on because the ultimate pair of monitors are running at the ultimate screen resolution (two Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP monitors at 2560×1600 apiece). This is ultimately not much of a let-down for me, as most of Vista’s Ultimate extras have proven themselves to be anything BUT.
Here’s the ultimate dialog box that is fully visible when I try running Windows Vista Ultimate’s Dreamscene. You’ll find that it’s very nicely shaded around the edges, and the title bar is quite translucent.
Error messages are simply stunning in Vista Ultimate:

w00t! Let’s contrast the Windows Ultimate experience with that of the open source projects, Beryl and Compiz (Compiz Fusion):
Ultimate, indeed.

Now Chris, don’t be so upset. It is not Vista that is causing this issue, it is your video card/s! It takes a certain amount of memory on each card to handle all the textures — the 3D stuff for the desktop and then in this case the Dreamscene video which is a large texture. So there simply is not enough onboard memory on the video card hardware to handle all the data.

I’ve tried hard to recommend Vista to my customers, however I run Ultimate and Business myself, and I find it hard to recommend a product that crashes and errors and resets as much as it does.
The wacky part?! Every piece of hardware in my main PC is Vista certified… uggh!

I find it funny how people will blame every little thing on the operating system. I notice how Chris is quick to point out the monitor make and model but not the video card. I bet it’s running a non-SLI 256MB video card.
I’m sure if Chris would upgrade his video card to two top-of-the-line SLI video cards, DreamScene would operate flawlessly in this environment.
