When I was a young kid, I created a first draft of a comic strip that I had thought up just for fun, and since I don’t have any talent in the drawing department, you can imagine how that ended up. To sum it up - not good. The creator of Dilbert (Scott Adams) has always said that his lack of artistic ability is evident, and he’s right, but the content has been enough to carry that brand for years and years. Content is important in a comic strip, but appearance is too, and even if you can’t draw well, ToonDoo has you covered.
With this service, instead of drawing by hand, all you have to do is drag pre-made backgrounds and characters onto the comic panels and add your own text from there. You can also upload, edit, and goofify images of your own to make the creation more personal and fitting for the story that you’re trying to convey. Once created, you can share your cartoon with the community and embed it on your blog or social networking site.

Hi Brandon,
Thanks for liking ToonDoo and writing about it.
Recently, there’s been a new development at ToonDoo that I think you would like.
While our stated aim is to develop a cartooning platform for those who can’t draw well, we’ve had an interesting collaboration happen in the last week. Jason Love, famous humorist and cartoonist (more at http://www.jasonlove.com) loved the idea of ToonDoo (Cartooning 2.0, so to speak) so much, that he agreed to share his large collection of existing cartoons that our team at ToonDoo could strip into individual reusable cartoon objects! So, we now have a Jason Love Gallery with as many as 400 individual objects that people can rip mix match burn drag drop on to their cartoons.
Visit this blog post for details.

I see this as a possible new development in the direction of future collaboration between cartoonists and viewers. Not content with just viewing what our cartoonists worldwide develop, (true to the Web 2.0 spirit), here they can share and let their own viewers be the cartoon makers themselves!
Thanks.
Rajendran.

Sounds like fun, but it looks like Toondoo has been “Gnomed”
