Hide E-mail Alerts In Outlook 2007

E-mail alerts can be annoying, if not embarrassing, if they appear in the middle of a PowerPoint presentation. In Outlook 2007, a desktop alert will appear above the system tray on your desktop when a new e-mail message arrives. The alert will include the subject of the e-mail as well as the sender’s name. So you can see how this could cause some problems if you are in the middle of a presentation.
By default, Outlook 2007 will not display any e-mail alerts when you are running a PowerPoint 2007 presentation. If you switch to another program though or open a Web site during your presentation, any e-mail alerts will continue to be displayed. To prevent this from occurring you can disable desktop alerts using the steps listed below.
- Open Outlook 2007.
- From the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click E-mail Options from the Preferences tab.
- Click the Advanced E-mail Options button.
- Clear the Display a New Mail Desktop Alert (default Inbox only) option. Click OK.
- Click OK.
