KeyNote

Text editors always seem to fascinate me for some odd reason. It might just be because I keep my nose shoved into one just about every day. A few days ago I started trying out a new one named KeyNote. Now why might you need yet another text editor? KeyNote does a little more than your average notepad.
KeyNote can be whatever you need it to be. It gives you tree organization and simple note writing abilities. All the basic text editing functions that you know and love are there. The beauty of this freeware download is the small RAM usage and the ability to export everything to just one file.
Here are a few words about the product from the creator:
KeyNote is a flexible, multi-featured tabbed notebook, that offers a combination of simple and tree-type notes, rich text editor, ability to mix notes of different types in a single file and optional secure encryption using the Blowfish or Idea algorithms. It can be used as a simple scratchpad for quick notes and ideas, or as a personal contacts organizer, bookmark manager, project manager, password storage and much more.
Although the project and support for this program has been closed down, I would still say it is worth trying out. There is word about a KeyNote 2 - but I hear it has been a while since there has been any update or work done on it.

Hi Mitch,
I read your RSS on Keynote a few days ago and downloaded it because I needed some kind of database-type program to store my computer tips I’ve been collecting for the past 10+ years. I thought it was a great program but I noticed a few anoying bugs in the program so I starting googleing for another similar program. I came across another free one called: “Treepad” found here: http://www.treepad.com/. That one is similar to Keynote and there is a Plus version for about $30 which has many more features. There is also a viewer available for people who do not have the program installed so they can read the files you send them in the “Treepad” format. Just thought you’d like to know.
