How Do I Back Up My Gmail?

  • No Related Post

I just finished reading an article in Leo Notenboom’s column Ask Leo, courtesy of FreewareWiki. Leo, always in there with the best path through the nuts and bolts of computer use, outlines a quick, easy way to back up all your Gmail.

Now theoretically you shouldn’t need to back up your Gmail at all, but extreme stuff can happen and I suppose it wouldn’t hurt. Given the hard drive space most of us have available nowadays, we certainly have room. My stash goes back to mid-2004, more than 9,000 separate pieces with attachments, and still only takes about 900 MB of my 2.84 GB on Google’s servers.

It’s really extremely simple, but there’s no sense my reinventing the wheel, so if you want to be extra safe to about the 4th power, check out Leo’s article.

Cheers my friend that’s proved a fruitful link, just what I needed after a system complete crash (yes with hindsite).
