Add Page Numbers To Your Document In Word 2007
- 11
- Add a Comment
You can add page numbers to the top or bottom of your Word document. Each new page will automatically include a new page number. Inserting them is relatively simple and once you get the hang of it, you can begin playing around with some of the different page numbering options to spice up your documents.
To insert page numbers in Word 2007:
- On the Insert tab, in the Header and Footer group, click Page Number.
- Click one of the following options: Top of Page, Bottom of Page or Page Margins.
- Select a page numbering style.
The page numbers will now appear in your document. You can remove the page numbers at any time by completing step 1 as described above and clicking the Remove Page Numbers option.

Hi, Diana!
I was wondering if you are having more success with Vista than the rest of us users?
You are posting a lot of articles about Vista here, so I was curious…
I have been dragging my feet over each Windows upgrade, torn between what my users I service are using, and what M$ is cramming down our throats with the new version. :(
I have been wondering just why M$ keeps changing the GUI each and every time!!! And I finally found the answer in one of the Lockergnome forums! M$ is trying to Out-MAC the MAC!!!
I have a suggestion for them, I DON’T WANT A MAC!!! Leave my Windows alone!!! If I wanted a friggin’ MAC, I’d buy one!!!
I keep switching my User Interface back to classic Windows!!! I don’t like all that CPU cycle-eating gee-wizz crap!!!
My advice to all my users who like that fluffy crap is, buy a MAC! Then there are Apple Users Groups out there who can help you add all the cute software displays and tools. I will even look up the AUG number for them!!!
Those who bought the PC to do real work, I then will continue to faithfully support them! Also those 2 million or so Win98 users, I will support them too. I have Win2K Professional, a DOS/Win95 laptop for games, and a Win98 desktop for support issues.
I am thinking of upgrading the Win2K to WinXP SP2, thinking about it, but I will still turn off that annoying fuzzy GUI!!! I HATE that interface, reminds me of a toy!!!
Here at work we have XP Pro with SP2, so I have to use it, and I am becoming more comfortable with it and the utilities that run on it, so I can better support my handfull of users who have XP.
Most of them are still on Win98, and they are happy, it does what they need it to do.
So, sorry for the rant. What is your opinion of Vista, and which version are you using?
Thanks!
Cheers! 8)

I see and can find the location for inserting the page number in Word 2007, but it does not work anymore correctly. Is there a fix for such? Nothing happens, I wish I can send you a screen print.

Hey there! I am following your advice, and it works great… but once I get to Page 10 and up of a document, it won’t print the numbers correctly - 10 is seen as a 1 inside a 0, 11 is seen as 1, 12 is seen as 1 on top of the 2 (or vice versa), etc. Is there a way around this?

Page number on word 2007 does not work at all. When I click on insert, page number, top of page, the rest is grayed out. Insert, header, page number, top of page, also grayed out.
It just does not work. Is there a fix to this bug?

How can add page number not starting from the first page.
I can’t found it, but now for hide page number from first page I place shape with no border and white fill color in front of page number (with text wrapping - in front of text).
It’s not real correct, but it work!
