Windows Messenger In Windows Vista

For those of you who faithfully use Windows Messenger to communicate with family, friends and co-workers, you are in for disappointment when you initially install Windows Vista. Windows Messenger was installed in Windows XP. However, it is not in Windows Vista. What you will find instead is a link on the Start Menu to the Windows Live Messenger download page. Some people may see this as a positive change, especially if you are a network administrator. If Windows Messenger is not installed, users cannot chat online.
It is also a positive change for all other users. If Windows Messenger installed with the operating system, it would likely be out of date and you would have to update it from the download page anyways. With this change, out of date Windows Messenger software is not running on your computer.

I just got windows on a new computor and it is hell trying to install. I spent 30 minutes waiting for it to search my computor for windows live programs and then attempting to install which eventually failed. I’m hopping this is just an issue with my computor and not with vista because why would i pay money for an operating system that takes 10 times the amount of time to install a certain program compared to it predecessor.

Of what i have researched on the internet Windows Messenger won’t install in Vista and the only work aroud for this is to install MS Office Communicator 2005 /2007 to chat with your office co-workers, provided that your Live communication server installed at your work space is compatible with above mentioned software.
If anyone knows any other workaround please let us know.

That has to be as lame as anything I’ve ever heard. What part of Windows doesn’t need updates. If not needing updates was an important criteria then windows should not be installed at all. (I personally think updates are a good thing.)
