Display Total Items Instead Of Unread Items In Outlook 2003

By default, Outlook displays the total number of unread items in a folder such as the Inbox. You can configure Outlook to display the total number of items in a folder instead.

To accomplish this in Outlook 2003:

  1. Right click the appropriate folder in Outlook.
  2. Click the Properties option.
  3. Verify that the General tab is selected.
  4. Click the Show total number of items option.
  5. Click OK.

To return to the default and display the number of unread items, on the General tab, click Show number of unread items.

This is a fine description, however, is there a way to make show total the default?
