One thing that everybody seems to want to know more about is the number of programs that launch when your computer starts up. Now Windows has a pretty good tool to figure this all out by default, but it doesn’t tell you very much. I wanted to find something that would give me more and I found it with Starter.

Starter is a freeware program that does exactly that. It lists all the programs that are starting automatically whenever Windows boots. A few other things that it does better than the rest includes listing all the hidden registry entries as well as the common startup folder items.

Here are a few more details about Starter from the developer:

“(Starter’s) Secondary purpose is to list all the running processes with possibility to view extended process information (such as used DLLs, memory usage, thread count, priorities etc.), and to terminate selected process (even a Windows NT service, having enough access rights).”

Starter might not be a program you use every single day, but you will be happy to have it when you need it.
