By default, the security level in Internet Explorer for the Internet zone is set to Medium-High. This means that Internet Explorer puts certain restrictions in place to protect you when browsing the Internet. For example, it will prompt you before downloading content that may be unsafe. You can customize the security level to suit your needs using the following steps:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools and select Internet Options.
- Click the Security tab.
- Select the zone you want to change the security level for.
- Move the slider up or down to the appropriate setting.
- Click OK
A word of caution when you are customizing the security level, if you set the level too low, your computer may be at risk.

what if IE7 only displays HIGH and won’t let you reset it lower? i don’t think it’s related to group policy. i think the issue is with Windows Server 2003.

How can I set my Internet Security in IE7 from medium-high to medium
and keep it there. Vista won’t let me change it. Is there a way to fix this by tweaking it with the Windows registry editor? My ISP told me the reason why I am having problems viewing pages is because of this.
I checked with Microsoft about it and they said you can not lower it
and they don’t recommend it. What good is having IE7 if you can’t view anything you want. >.

No matter how I change my security settings I can’t get ActiveX controls to work. Even on trusted sites & zones. What is the solution?
