O.K., I admit it. I’ve been spending too much time on Digg. It’s not such a bad pursuit, I keep telling myself. Over the past week or so, I’ve combed the postings for hours each day, trying to understand the path to Digg’s success. It’s a frustrating obsession. I’ve tried submitting a bunch of articles, but I just can’t seem to get any traction.

None of my recent gems have gotten anywhere:

• not the piece about how I got smashed and dropped my blood pressure by nearly twenty points,
• nor my quest to find the ultimate digital photo frame,
• never mind my search for the world’s largest scanner, and sheesh
• not even my handy hint for keeping your fingers warm while typing.

Andy Warhol overestimated. In the future we all won’t have fifteen minutes of fame. We’ll only have two. And it will be brought to you by YouTube, via Digg… if we’re so lucky…
