I'm just starting to learn how to used IIS 7.0 with my ASP.NET web apps and wanting to try out windows authentication with impersonation. I think that means I can't use custom accounts and would be limited to Network Server or Local Service that run with the bound application pools.

Windows Vista TM Home Premium does not include lusrmgr.msc and Gpedit.msc whoever is saying you can use
both of these tools in XP Home Edition Vista Home Basic and Premium are full of crap
the lusrmgr.msc and Gpedit.msc and secpol.msc snapins
are only available in Windows Vista Business Ultimate and Enterprise . XP Professional XP Media Center Edition and Windows 2000 Professional .
Vista TM Home Premium is a good operating system
but lacks the business features that 2000 XP Professional and Vista TM offers

You can take care of a lot of those log in message tasks with task scheduler. You can have an event driven task display a msgbox at sign on.

Right click "Computer" -> Manage -> expand "Task Scheduler" and follow the prompts

I have Windows Vista Home premium on SP1 and noticed that there is a security watermark in the folder:

C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\x86_netfx-aspnet_webadmin_images_b03f5f7f11d50a3a......etc, etc., folder. I also noticed that I cannot change permissions to this folder / file. Is this correct? Why can't I delete a file from the software which I purchased and someone else whom I dont know has full access to this item?

The item name is security_watermark.jpg

Anyone have any answers? Much appreciated.

I have vista home premium and want to enable logging of failed logon attempts for the event viewer. This is normally done via the Local Security Policy but Home Premium does not have this, as per above. Any idea how I can do it via the registry, or another way? Thanks.
