If you are a supporter of tracking resource usage, you will likely find Windows Vista’s Resource Monitor to be a useful tool. You can access the tool from the Task Manager window. Simply right click the Taskbar and click Properties. Within Task Manager, click the Performance tab. At the bottom of the window you should see the Resource Monitor button.

The Resource Monitor window will display four graphs that contain real-time usage statistics for the following components:

• CPU - displays the current CPU usage
• Memory - displays the current hard faults per second
• Disk - displays the total current I/O
• Network - displays the current total network traffic

And if this information is not enough for you, beneath these four graphs, you will find more detailed information about each of the resources.
