Unfortunately this does not normally work. Enterprise Edition requires a completely different install and attempting to upgrade Business -> Ultimate has failed for me also; it gives a message “The produce key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must either run Windows Vista Setup or enter a Windows Vista Business product key”. I am assuming that this “Change product key” version is only for keys of the current version.

I have a Windows Vista Ultimate. Vista is fully installed in my system, and then here starts big problem….. When I activate the window, it gives me error “CODE 0xC004C003” or description: The activation server determined the specified product key is in use.

@ Amanda and Lauren - turn your laptop upside down and there should be a VISTA product key sticker on your unit. If you do not see such a sticker, please call your laptop manufacturer for support.

I’ve had my laptop for about two months or so now, and I have tried to activate my version of Windows Vista, but it continues to say that the Product Key that I’ve entered was invalid and that my version of Windows Vista is not genuin. I’ve tried the Automated Phone System [which didn't help at all, by the way]. And now, everytime I log on, a black screen and an activation screen shows up, and all I can do now is use my IMs & the net [to 'purchase' a new product key or whatever -.-]. Wow, I can’t believe all the people that need a key!!! Well Merry Christmas because I know the best Vista hack yet.. Here goes…
Boot off the vista DVD.
When prompted to enter a key uncheck the box and don’t do it.
Choose any edition of Vista- Yess you can choose, every edition is on every DVD.
Choose the drive and install.
After install download the “Magic jellybean finder” You can Google this no problem.
Run the jellybean finder and presto you hav a product key.
Activate Windows.
I have done this about 10 times without a problem.
Enjoy!!!!!

I know the best and absolutely easiest way to get a product key for vista. Get off your chair, drive down to your local computer store and say “I’d like to buy Windows Vista please” and if you give the person some money they give you a box! Now, here’s the best part, when you get home open the box and in it you’ll find a Product Key for Vista! Amazing!

The best thing about this method is that it’ll never stop working unlike most of the hacks out there. Imagine all the time you can save!

I have installed windows vista. Everything was running smoothly. Now it will not let me do anything at all. It is askig for a different product key. The one I first used it not working for it. Can someone please help get a product key. I have so much homework for my MBA, I am at my sister house for now. I am desprite! I have been searching for one since 7am. why dont you people just use the various cracks that are available. They will usually stop the activation timer on windows therefore you will not need to enter a serial

I was successfully able to swap my Vista OEM Ultimate 32bit key to a 64bit oem media set I got. I did a clean install. I have only activated my 32 bit version once when vista first came out.

1) Walk into a shop
2) Say that you would like to purchase a legal copy of Windows Vista
3) Hand over money to pay for the product

These steps ensure that you get a fully working and LEGAL copy of Windows Vista!!!

Why don’t you just pay for a legal copy of Windows Vista?

If Vista lets you change product keys even to a key that has been registered. I don’t see why you can’t just go down to a local pc store like BEST BUY or Circuit City and check out the vista computers there and copy there product id and put it in your system to get premium or whatever… it might work I suppose.
