Despite the vast multitude of people who are on the Internet, it can still be a challenge to find people to talk to. Sure, you could just e-mail and IM random people, but it would be nice to know a little bit about them before you start an online discussion with them. As we’ve seen from a number of television specials from a certain show called Dateline, there are plenty of sick and twisted people out there, and if this doesn’t describe any of the other people that you could potentially talk to on the Internet, then perhaps juvenile and ridiculous does. It helps to be discerning to the best of your abilities when it comes to chatting online, and that’s why you might want to use buddystumbler.
The service won’t necessarily protect you from wackos, but at least you’ll find wackos with the same interests as you. Once you’ve created a simple profile that details a little bit about you and what you’re interested in, you can then perform specific searches for the type of people that you want to talk to. If you find someone that you “like,” you can then ask to be their buddy. Assuming that they accept you, the two of you can then exchange your IM handles and start conversing. The same process applies if someone wants to be your buddy. With buddystumbler, users can also communicate and give their personal approval on each other’s profiles. As always, remember to be careful out there on the Interweb, folks.

Brandon,
I wanted to let you know that your thoughtful review of buddystumbler really helped get the site off of its feet back in January. Just this past weekend, we launched a revised version of the website officially taking it out of beta after 3 months and feedback from thousands of users. Thank you for your support and brief mention: with your support buddystumbler has helped thousands make new friends and meet people online.
Thank you,
Han Yuan
