Add The Control Panel To My Computer In XP

  • No Related Post

There are many different ways that you can get to the Control Panel in XP. Since the Control Panel is the place to go for making configuration changes, I usually find that the more ways I have to get there, the better.

In a previous tip I showed you how to add the Control Panel to the Start Menu. It’s nice being able to click Start and see a link to the Control Panel right there. Another place I like to see a link to the Control Panel is within My Computer. Typically, XP does not display a link there unless you tell it to do so using the steps listed below.

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories and click Windows Explorer.
  2. From the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  3. Select the View tab.
  4. Check the box beside the Show Control Panel in My Computer option.
  5. Click OK.

Due to a virus we believe the “Control Panel” is no longer on the computer. We have dowloaded “Adware” to scan for virus’ every day. When I do a “search” on the computer for the Control Panel it is no where to be found. How can the “Control Panel” be reinstalled?

Thank you.
