Split A Table Cell Into Multiple Cells (Word 2002)

Posted by on Jan 26, 2007 | No Comments

In a previous tip I described how you can merge multiple table cells into a single cell. You can also do just the opposite and split a single cell into multiple cells. For example, you can combine a table heading cell that spans multiple columns into multiple cells to create column headings.

To split a single table cell into multiple cells:

  1. Click in the cell that you want to split.
  2. From the Table menu, click the Split Cells option.
  3. Select the number of columns or rows that you want to split the selected cell into.
  4. Click OK.
