Panasonic Wireless Phones For The Home

We aren’t using any of the telephone jacks in our new home - what’s the point? I learned about the Panasonic KX-TG5776S 5.8 GHz FHSS GigaRange Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System a few months ago, and I’ve been very satisfied with its performance here. The handsets and charger bases are all interchangeable, the network is expandable beyond our needs, and there’s even a Skype dongle (KX-TGA575S) accessory.
No performance issues, so to speak; the reception and call quality have been average, and I haven’t noticed any interference with the two wireless networks here. Vonage runs as good as can be expected, too. I’d certainly recommend it, as do others (as countless independent reviews clearly illustrate). We don’t use the answering system part of it, only because we get our voice mails as MP3 attachments - and it doesn’t get any more convenient than that.
I think what I like most about this particular system is the handset customization options. The software (GigaRange USB Utility) will let you import any digital image as the phone’s wallpaper or Caller ID avatar - plus you can import any WAV recording as a ringtone. It’s probably the most affordable, tweakable wireless phone system on the planet.
I’m beginning to love Panasonic’s products.

Almost every gadget now has a lot of features to offer, there is this watch with MP3 and phone feature, the phone is now an all in one gadget. What’s next? A Phone with TV and DVD player? wow! That’s great, but I would rather use the phone like ericsson phone sony w600i. as my MP3 gadget… I just love music…
And now phones at home is getting techie… like this Panasonic Wireless Phones for the Home.

Hope you also have a good cell phone, wireless phones just don’t work when there is a power outage.

You ought to have one “wired” phone plugged into a jack. These will work even when there is a power failure (when your favorite Panasonics fail) and when the cell phones are jammed because everyone that has only wireless phones in their homes are calling someone.

Even cell phones need electricity to charge the battery, an old corded phone kept on hand for emergency situations would be best. I live in Missouri - the power has been out for days for some people!

Chris,
You state, “We aren’t using any of the telephone jacks in our new home…” How are you using this phone without using a phone jack?

You should probably consider putting the base station onto a UPS, so that you can still talk when the power goes out - given the tiny current draw of one of these devices a small UPS should last for quite a long time.

Don’t forget to keep a standard landline, line powered, phone connected as well. If you lose electrical power, then all cordless phones are OOS. When those cordless phones won’t work you can still use the standard phone because it’s D/C signaling A/C carrier are powered from the phone company central office.
