Will Technology Save Us Or Kill Us?

  • No Related Post

I first saw Al Gore speak on global warming when I was a senior in high school (1991, well over a decade ago). That was the year I had been invited to attend and participate in the National Meteorological Society’s annual conference in New Orleans. Seven other students from across the country were with me, sitting in the second row for this seemingly-important presentation. The only thing I remember from that speech? Falling asleep. Everything sounded important, but I wasn’t able to connect enough dots to have his projections make sense (personally). Even so, what could I do about global warming? Can one person really make a difference?

Fast forward to the cusp of 2006 / 2007. Ponzi and I happened upon “An Inconvenient Truth” on our cruise ship’s video network (remember, I’m still on my honeymoon right now - as I have been for the past few days). What we watched in that film was beyond jaw-dropping. Global warming is really happening, and it far outstretches any kind of political affiliations and agendas at its core. Our planet doesn’t give a rip if you’re Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Communist, etc. You don’t have to look very far in today’s news to see how Mother Nature is starting to fight back against the virus known as humanity. The record snowstorms in Seattle, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico? Sure, weather patterns are cyclical - but we’re messing with Earth’s Registry, if you’ll entertain the Windows correlation for a moment.

CO2 in the atmosphere is off the charts - a logical (not just political) outcome from sloppy and outdated manufacturing processes and the increasing amount of nations reliant on fossil fuels. The more populations we industrialize, the more carbon dioxide we produce - it’s really *THAT* simple. It’s scary simple. “Technology” can save us, but it is likely leading us down the path of our own destruction. What we need to apply now is our knowledge, not just our tools. I don’t care who you are or where you’re from - we’re all in this together. Forget about our petty differences for just a split second and realize that we’re facing something potentially cataclysmic. This isn’t a future generation’s problem - it’s our problem. This isn’t happening in the future - it’s happening today.

And let’s just pretend for a moment that global warming is a “Chicken Little” scenario. On which side of the argument would you rather side? Isn’t it better to be safe than to be sorry? In this case, “sorry” may very well translate in the complete destruction of everything that you’ve known and loved. I’ve gotta trust my own circuitry on this issue, and that tells me to start making dramatic changes at home - immediately. It’s not just a New Year’s Resolution to change my own energy habits - it’s a lifestyle change that will put me square in the middle of the “solution” column. It’s time to do a bit more research; what are you doing to save your home, the Earth?

I hope you and Ponzi practice what you preach.

I think you will find that the increase in CO2 levels correlate to the increase in population levels.

It is not industrialisation we need to curb, but our propensity to procreate !

Sorry to hear you have fallen victim to the political agenda of the left about global warming. Bad science repeated often enough allows error to be accepted as fact. You and Al Gore fly on jet planes. You go on a week long cruise, and then preach to us about how terrible our future will be. Airplanes and cruise ships are two shining examples of how wasted fuel that supposedly contributes to global warming, is justified by gloom and doom folks as a necessary evil when they want to use them. There is not enough time or space to go into all the wrong premises that make up the global warming hype.

Chris,

As a fellow geek I am surprised that you fell for Owl Gore’s propoganda. Even if the globe is warming how in the world can we know who or what is responsible. When they say things like “this is the worse snow storm since 1948″ or “today’s record heat breaks the old record set in 1898″ doesn’t it make you wonder what was happening in the fifty or hundred years in between. Have you read about the 30-40 year cycle in hurricane activity? Katrina was the worst hurricane to hit the US since Camille in 1969. There has been a 35 year down cycle since and people have developed the Gulf Coast. If two years ago was any indication the activity is beginning to pick up. But 35 years is a spit in the ocean in the context of geologic time

An example of blatant manipulation in the film was the chart of car emissions. No mention was made of what the chart represented. Sure the Japanese and European lines were higher than the US but if you chose your coordinates right you can make a almost immeasureable difference LOOK like a big deal. No mention was made of what the lines would mean in terms of cleaner air. No mention was made of what it would cost to produce the difference. Al talked about doing his show everywhere from Portland to Toronto and everywhere in between. Did he walk? Did he fly coach? Did he fly first class? Or was he on a private jet with a ton of luggage and a crew of secret service people? This is not about a glacier falling into the ocean. That has happened since forever. Didn’t you see Titanic? This isn’t about the loss of irrigateable land. 4000 years ago Egypt was the bread basket of the middle east. Things change. Not all change has been caused by homo sapiens. This is about control. The EU leadership has said as much.

Oil companies make 9 cents a gallon on gasoline. The US Govt receives 50 cents a gallon. So if Exxon made 90 billion last year that means the US govt received almost 500 billion. And they want to raise gas taxes to lower the amount of emissions. Humm. So Exxon will make 9 cents a gallon and the government will make a trillion?

Look, the globe can and probably is warming and I feel sorry for the polar bears but if they move to Greenland they won’t fun out of ice sheets. The globe is warming but if it is caused by cycles unknown to us or by sun spots blowing out that candle because it produces carbon dioxide is silly.

Have you ever heard of Dennis Lee and his Free Energy Generator? If you would like a 40 minute DVD on this subject, give me your mailing address and I will send you one. If you are sincere about reversing global warming, you could help Dennis and all of us eliminate internal combustion poluting engines and the use of oil/gasoline. Help get 1 million of these free energy units installed in homes by June of this year.
Regards, Charlie

Hi!

Just to balance things out you might want to read Michael Crichton’s novel “State Of Confusion”. It will help you remember that all reports & analyses are subject to interpretation. Data that doesn’t fit into the hypothesis or supports the opinion is often ignored or buried. The media selects what facts to report & quite often we forget that there are other sides to every story. Nothing is as cut & dry or black & white as we are asked to believe. The shades of grey are often ignored yet are vital to the whole picture.

I don’t refute global warming but I do question the motives behind any one-sided “hard sell” of an issue. The effects of all forms of pollution have been an issue for decades that we chose to ignore because it was inconvenient to progress, our pocketbooks, & our lifestyles. I’m glad we’re raising the public conscience about this issue once again!

Let’s all try to understand how we can take care of our home - the earth - & keep in mind that today’s facts are tomorrow’s fiction.

Thanks for caring enough to include this important issue in your newsletter!

Dear Chris,
Your question about technology is mute because of the fact that technology has already saved us. Can you imagine the current human population living with the conditions of a technology of the early fifties? No stack scrubbers, No catylitic converters, No serious attention to.controls on industrial waste, No real way to test for contaminents in our food and water, No secondary sewage treatment, and no real concept of the posible dangers of the new “cheep and clean” power source, the best thing since hydroelectric power, nuclear energy. Go back another fifty years and we find fue epidemics as deadly as the bubonic plagues, and famine. Our problem is not technogly but the unwillingness of the world corperate powers to absorb the cost of it. Little can be done about this on a personal level other than supporting efforts to get governments to support changes in laws and rules.
However this is not to say that nothing can be done to reduce one’s impact on the Earth at a personal level. As a long time back packer I learned to leave a small footprint on the land and eventually learned to carry this into my urban life. Avoid anything disposable, with the possible exception of diapers while traveling. Carry a cup with you when you leave home so you can avoid styrofoam. Don’t buy “convienence foods” . Pay attention to the waste in packaging and avoid stupid products such as individually wrapped cheese slices. With a little dicipline one will eat better, cheaper, and reduce the contribution to the land fill to less than a grocery bag a week. “If you are not recycling you are throwing it all away” should be ones mantra.
Technology has the potential to save the enviornment, without it our way of life is truely doomed. Not in my lifetime perhaps but the inexorable pressure of population needs will surely cause major changes as it already has. Our only hope is the very thing that allowed our spieces to grow to this overburdening population. We must press forward and cause the collective mind to the reaization that we are each responsible for the efforts we make and that the corperate entitied must be dragged kicking and screaming to the threshold of enviornmental responsibility and unceramoniously pushed through the portal.
That is it from this soapbox. Thanks, C

Hi Chris,

Congratulations on your marriage. I too am a newly wed of only 4 months.

I think your global warming message is a bit poorly timed. You are telling us this as you sit on a pleasure ship burning what maybe 500 gallons of oil an hour for a 3 day cruse.

Ok that is 3 X 24 = 72hrs X 500 gal = 36,000 gal of oil used in 3 days of pleasure cursing.

Now I drive one of them rotten SUV that gets 20 MPG. I drive 30,000 miles doing tec support and service calls per year. It will take me 24 years for me to use up 36,000 gal of gas.

I think the message would be better said as you ride your bike to the market.

Hi Chris, Congratulations on your recent marriage and the terriffic honeymoon. I would like to ask you to study the other side of the coin regarding global warming before making up your mind. Rather that throw darts at the Al Gores of the world, I will simply ask you to go to the http://www.junkscience.com web site and do research on other sites as well.

It is so easy to take a few facts and build a monumental case that sounds valid, but in reality it is like swiss cheese. Even the current expressed concerns regarding polar bear’s survival are built on faulty premises if one seeks more in depth info.

This past year we were predicted to having the worse hurricane season on record due to global warming. Katrina was just the beginning! A few decades ago we had a similar weather warning of the earth going into a “freeze” period. That is never mentioned.

The point is that we owe it to ourselves to be more informed by looking at the stories behind the stories.

Regards, George

That it, You just blew it. When you give Al Gore so much { I know space}

Please explane to me about the diffrent ice ages, cooling and warming. That has been going on the beging of the earth. Do you really think every things stays the same. I will give you a short time to explame to me why all the other changes took place befor man. eally allways took you for a man who done his own thinking. I will be waiting for a SHORT time for your reason, Al Gore said it. That dog won’t hunt

“CO2 in the atmosphere is off the charts - a logical (not just political) outcome from sloppy and outdated manufacturing processes and the increasing amount of nations reliant on fossil fuels. The more populations we industrialize, the more carbon dioxide we produce - it’s really *THAT* simple. It’s scary simple. ”

With regard to your comment - its not that simple. Are you aware that the contribution of all manufacturing contributes an extremely small percentage to the atmospheric CO2? Finally, what amount of global warming is cyclical?

It isn’t that simple. Al Gore and other “scienticians” may make that claim, but they are ignorant or liars if they do so. Climate science is still in its infancy and there is quite a bit we just don’t know at this point. Nearly all climatology computer models are incomplete and leave out numerous variables (the sun being one of the biggest).

The real issue here is people crying “Chicken Little”. What if the Earth is warming, but humans only account for 10% of that? Should we spend billions and trillions of dollars addressing that 10% or should we be doing more to address the other 90%? The Earth has gone through billions of years of climate change long before humans even existed. Keep that firmly in mind when you do more research on this topic as I hope you will. I recommend Michael Crichton’s “State of Fear” and its bibliography as a pop culture counter-weight to Al Gore’s movie.

I thought you were smarter then that. Why don’t you read from people who truely know about the wheather and environmental conditions. Not a few but many think opposite, and believe that the conditions we see in our small time frame is normal. With your self truth, you then must conclude Congress is the legimate people who know how to deal best with the internet and forget experts like you, and only rely on reliable sources like Microsoft.
It is a political football field, which one should follow the money trail and power brokers. Russia, Mexico, and India are excluded, and our costly goals will affect less then 1% of any results. I thought you were smarter then that.

Chris
I realize you are still young and impressionable but you have come to conclusions based on a political left wing movie filled with all kinds of inaccurate information. I would suggest you read Michael Crichton’s book State of Fear.
http://www.michaelcrichton.net/fear/index.html
Its fiction but it is based on a tremendous amount of research. I think he said he spent two years collecting information. He has pages of references in the back of his book where you can get more educated on the real facts. You are too young but in the mid 70’s the same people said the world was going into an ice age and by the year 2000 the world would end as we know it. Stick to computers you are more informed.

While I don’t agree that it is possible to know what part of global warming is due to human activity and what part is due to other factors, I do agree that minimizing all combustion and the pollution it causes is a good thing.

As a home owner, Chris, you can do your part by generating as much of your own electricity as possible. Have you looked into putting up a windmill and installing solar panels? Once you’ve done that, you can think about buying an electric car. And don’t forget to write your congressman about imposing a HUGE tax on the consumption of all hydrocarbon fuels. (That will really force down co2 production in the USA.)

You can at least hook an external switch to every instant-on gadget and really shut each of them off when not in use instead of allowing them to suck up standby power.

One more thing.

Read “State of Fear” by Michael Chrichton, and let us know what you think of it.

Surprising how many geeks prefer to be ostriches about Global warming, but unsurprising they sling muck and huge solutions - having lost the ability to think small.

Think of a small change you can make - WalMart is helping by merchandising energy efficient flourescent light bulbs - that use 75% less energy for the same lumen output. Besides that energy savings, the bulbs last much longer than incandescent so despite an initial higher cost they are cheaper in the long run. Odd that geeks can’t see that far ahead.

I am surprised that anyone with average intelligence would fall for Al Gore’s global warming story, which was rife with falsehoods. Where do you suppose the proponents of global warming get their money? It’s from governments and other groups that pay them to promote the warming story. Note that activists and hysteria mongers have changed from “global warming” to “climate change” so every aspect of the weather, hot or cold, wet or dry, can now be blamed on CO2. As mentioned in another comment, the only “cure” is to kill off most of the humans and have the rest revert to savagery. Note that the ban on DDT was partially done to ensure a lot of African women and children would die from malaria. The UN and US environmentalists thought Africa had too many people - and they succeeded in killing about a million people a year in Africa alone for 30 years. Some of the same people that promote global warming told us 30 years ago that we were heading into an ice age. Off your medication Chris? It’s not like you.

Chris…You’re a smart guy, Al Gore is not (or is and also conniving). Don’t fall for the political, socialist hype on this subject. Check out alternative, OBJECTIVE, sources and you’ll come on over to the good side…Jeff

On his honeymoonz, not responding. ;)

Have fun man.

Chris Pirillo, may I treat your comments as a personal email to me? Thanks!

About technology saving us or killing us? Well, personally I feel that weapons do not kill no more than technology per-say can save or kill us! It’s the negativism in people who wield the weapons that kill, and the mis-use of technological prowes by people who avariciously disregard the side effects, much as most medications on the general public, cause more harm than good.

Since the time we saw you on the Tele, we adjudged you to be quite brilliant for your age. You just corroborated our feelings about you! That you were interested and involved at a young age in caring about “Earth Mother,” is very commendable. That you have continued to be concerned is more remarkable.

I am Rudy Eagle from Chiricahua Apache Nation, heritage, going on eighty-two. Need I say how I feel the despoilment of our “Mother Earth?” I have lived long enough to see that all hope is not lost as long as young men like you excercise your intelligence to enlighten others to the great mistake in mis-using technology for avaricious purposes.

You state that you are on a cruise ship enjoying your honeymoon. May I apprise you that at the same time, you are also on a space ship cruising in our Univers! One of many in the infinite Cosmos. Congratulations, may your marriage last as long or longer than Sheri and I. (Going on forty-Two years)

What you state about snow storms pale in comparison to what is coming to happen to Mother Earth in cataclysmic magnitude. Whereby millions upon millions of inocent souls will lose their lives accross the world, overnight! Scientists have created the means for the holocaust of holocausts. The atom bomb is a harmless devise until actuated by negative minded people. You can be sure the world is over-running with vengeful people itching to burn up our planet.

Great Spirit has allowed me a long life in order that I may become aware of the distructive nature in human kind — principally “MEN!” Yet with men like you, voicing a warning, I see hope in that humanity as a whole will come to realize that ” One intelligent positive person can — make a difference!”

The above stated puts it succinctly. It is sheer madness at how unrestrained developement can do more harm than good to our environment! Yet despite, and in spite such statistical revelation, humanity continues to despoil Mother Earth. Like children run amock and destroying everything they touch, it is then inevitable the punishment shall prevail in just cause.

There is quite a lot of difference twixt a “problem,” and a “situation.” In the first, one does not know the answer. In the secound the answer is known, but like a cancer, procrastination takes over. The powers that be will not admit to their wrong doing. They are hell bound to show the world that “Absolute power corrupts absolutely!” All I can say to that, is, very sick minds thru-out the world, have been ruling way to long. Sad, sad, sad!

Well, Chris, first of all, what I am doing is responding to your appeal! To let you know how much I care not so much about saving the world at large, but rather, how much I care that folks like you are coming out to voice a warning loud and clear that hopefully enlightens people the world over. My wife-Sheri and I are on a “Mission,” to help others help themselves spiritually. No, I’m not an ordained Minister, just an Apache Shaman!

We have been on the Internet nearly six years voicing our beliefs in that humanity has been mistreating “Earth Mother” way too long. That we all aught to pay greater respect and appreciate more about the bounty derived from Mother Earth. That we should show our appreciationg by sharing with one another the catalyst for peace on earth — namely “LOVE.” There is simply too much “HATE” on going around the globe!

In the process meanwhile, we make every effort in our small place, (R.V. Park) to administer the wild life’s needs, and plant greenery that enhances their lives. As a result, we have three children in feathered form. Three beautiful, and love-able quail. They are a marvel to behold, exhibiting intelligence beyond our comprehension. Their unconditional love, we share with wonderful folks world wide.

We have a small enterprise crafting American Native art-works, we list on Ebay. The favorite item is the revered “Peace pipe.” We are sure you are familiar with!

Chris, we wish you congratulations again! “May you live long and Prosper!” Please do not relent voicing your indignation at how terribly wrong “Technology” is being applied against our enviornment!

Regards to you and your lovely wife! Great Spirit be with you both. —- Rudy Eagle

Humanity is not a virus. How silly do you plan to get?

Chris,

It is your honeymoon.

Get on to the proper activities.

Do it now.

And lots.

Dear Chris -
Thank you for your article on global warming (although t’was perhaps a wee bit badly timed as you sit on a luxury cruise liner!!).

I am not surprised that the previous comments posted here are, it would appear, mainly negative and mainly from Americans. From the other side of the “Pond”, you do not, alas, have the best reputation in the energy saving league tables. Is it that it would change your lifestyles too much? (Why didn’t the USA ratify the Kyoto protocol?)

This is not just a political problem but a very real state of affairs. Unless we all do our small bit to save enery and natural ressources, our world as we know it is doomed. OK, maybe not in our lifetimes, but our children and grand-children will be seriously affected. Is that what we want to do for them?

Please, all of you, think beyond your own immediate ways of life. If you can’t save energy, please don’t simply waste it. Thank you.

In case you ask, I have seen “An inconvenient truth” and read Michael Chriton’s “State of Fear”.

Chris writes:

“Global warming is really happening…” Yes, but not the way you think. Water vapor is responsible for 95% of the greenhouse effect. CO2 is a much smaller contributor when you compare the two. Human sources of CO2 are responsible for less than 1% of the green house effect when you factor in the effectiveness of water vapor and C02. Reducing human contributions to CO2 will not change the impact of water vapor.

“CO2 in the atmosphere is off the charts.” Can you quote numbers? Are we talking 10x, 100x, 1000x of a baseline? No. It is more like .25x since 1960. (See the Keeling Curve)

“…it far outstretches any kind of political affiliations and agendas at its core. ” Yes and Al Gore isn’t running for President in 2008. This is not a scientific film, it is political propaganda, which is why I won’t pay to see it.

“Isn’t it better to be safe than to be sorry? ” Sure, sounds good. But if it means we go into economic depression because there are not enough cars, trucks, ships, power plants, etc. then I think we will be sorry.

Oh, and Courtenay Smith writes:
“Our problem is not technogly but the unwillingness of the world corperate powers to absorb the cost of it.” This kills me. Who are these “powers”? Corporations don’t “absorb” costs. They pass them on to consumers. You are really saying we should all pay, and the Al Gores would say that the government will decide what we should pay for, like it or not. Sounds like communism to me.

Every industrialized nation but the US accepts global warming is happening and is working to do something about it.

Chris, I see you really got hit by the Flat Earth contingent here., those who is illogical defiance of fact and science pretend something to be true when it’s not.

In the real world, not their fantasy land, here’s what’s happening.

Global warming claims first inhabited tropical island
http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2099971.ece

Plant zones in the US shifted north one zone from 1990-2006
http://polizeros.com/2007/01/02/plant-zones-1990-vs-2006/

As usual Pirillo - you have a way of flapping at the mouth before you give any thought to what you’re saying.
If you really believe that you’re on the road to saving “mother earth” then maybe you should get your geek ass off that fuel guzzling floating hotel and refuse to take any more cruises or for that matter, fly anywhere. Let’s see you put your money where your mouth is (but we all know that won’t happen)
I also agree with David - Lockergnome is not the place for your political views. Yeah I know it’s your website, but don’t fill it up with crap and your own personal views on subjects that you obviously don’t know too much about. This is Windows Fanatics - not the Pirillo Rant Site.

Chris,
I’m very sorry to hear that it’s taken you so long to realise that the human race is slowly killing the planet.
Some friends and I discussed this as long ago as 1982 - 4 while sat on the floor of my front room. We discussed exactly what is happening NOW! We knew as long ago as that - that things were going wrong because certain seasons were already going slightly out of sync and it was also round about the same time as the planet shifted ever so slightly on it’s axis and we’d worked out from the angle of the planet in relation to the sun that things were changing - even the Gregorgian calendar was changing in it’s own way but we concluded that if we’d said a thing beyond our group, then no govt would have believed us then so we kept quiet but all 4 of us remembered our talk from back then.
I’ve studied the world and the way it works since I was a child but never bothered to take any qualifications because no-one would have believed what I had to say.
I’m glad you both have decided to do something but can all world govts be made to listen - I very much doubt it but the best of luck for your future life together and just enjoy life and make the most of it.
BTW - technology won’t save the planet - it’s far too late.
Take care
Stay safe
Anne (38Special on LG)

I’ll bet my life savings that most of the posts here claiming to debunk global climate change were written by only one or two readers using different names. In his comments claiming that An Inconvenient Truth is political, it is clear he has never seen the movie.

And it is clear that he has never studied the science. All the evidence is that global climate change is happening and it is accelerated by man-made CO2 emmissions. There is not one climatologist who says otherwise. Not one in the world.

Most of the “experts” who say otherwise are paid by Exxon to confuse the issue, just as the tobacco companies until recently claimed that smoking did not harm anyone’s health.

Weyerhauser, Toyota, Honda, WalMart and thousands of other corporations, local and state governments throughout the US, and nearly every national government except the US, are making changes to try to head off the disastrous climate changes that are coming our way.

Hoaxes don’t receive that kind of support.

Personally, I think people who still claim that global climate change is not happening have some sort of mental problem.

The “flat earth” contingent should go to the Web site of the American Geophysical Union. For at least the past five years, a major part of its December meeting in San Francisco is devoted to climate change and global warming. These scientists have no political axe to grind, and the vast preponderance of the evidence points to global warming as reality. If you and Ponzi are serious about facing up to global warning, you should re-evaluate your life style, particularly taking cruises in the future (exception allowed for honeymoon). Since you have a vast readership, you may actually be able to influence others on this important issue.

oh my aching back. Spencer says every government except the US is working to reduce greenhouse emissions. Budd, have you ever been outside the US? Drive behind a bus in Brazil, Peru, Mexico or anywhere in Eastern Europe and tell me you don’t long for the CO2 dense air of anywhere in the US? Remember the burning rivers in Pennsylvania of the 60’s? They still exist in other parts of the world. Oh I forgot he was talking about industrialized nations. Too bad we share the air.

Anne is so heavy laden with the immenent destruction of the earth that she can barely go on. Sara is convinced that NOT one climatologist disagrees with her. Come on children. If we “flat earthers” are the quacks you make us out to be there must be ONE scientist out there who supports us. You can find anything you want on the internet, amalgam fillings cause cancer, electromagnetic radiation cause leukemia, flouride in toothpaste, vaccinations they are all from the devil. You have to choose. Don’t want vaccinations cause of the fear of autism? Measles, mumps, whopping cough, hep a, hep b, polio are all waiting to take their place at the “I want to kill your children” counter. Don’t want electricity, I guess we can burn kerosene. That’ll make the air cleaner. See technology is bad bad bad. Is the keyboard you typed on made of naturally occuring materials?

And Bob I don’t deny anything. However in keeping with the axiom that there are lies, damned lies and then there are statistics the data can be made to say anything. Do your analysis but pick a different starting date and watch what happens. The links you provided are in fact interesting but… for example, the shifting of planting zones over a 16 year period is interesting but how does one establish cause and effect? Things change, that is the way life is. The difference is that today the academic climate is one of self-loathing and at the same time self-importance. We must be responsible for all the bad things happening because we are so evil.

What annoys me here is the number of people who immediately label this information as ‘left wing’. What kind of political agenda is forwarded by this argument??? It doesn’t matter if you’re democrat, republican, black, white, christian, islamic, etc… this is affecting everyone.

Could Al be wrong? Maybe, but what if he isn’t. Take those numbers presented about scientific journals, etc. Didn’t see much disagreement there, and scientists don’t tend to have a ‘political agenda’.

Catching up on my backlog of Windows Fanatics issues, I encountered Chris’ ignorant and irrational rant in support of the thoroughly dishonest Gore movie. OK, I’m tired of, but accustomed to, people taking this “The End Is Near” nonsense seriously.

What I’m not accustomed to — and simply refuse to tolerate — is the contemptible self-loathing and hatred for other members of your species inherent in the phrase “the virus known as humanity.” Disgusting. I’m canceling my subscription and will no longer have anything to do with Lockergnome or any Chris Pirillo venture.
