OrangeCD Player v6.0.6.10811

Posted by on Dec 26, 2006 | 12 Comments

This program reminded me of my first few experiences with a computer. I remember the first time I stuck a CD in my PC and thought, “Wow, it can play CDs, too!” Of course, that was more than a few years ago and a lot of time has passed since then. Now my computer is also my stereo – so I am always looking for interesting new ways to enjoy my audio experience.

One of the most recent programs I have tried playing with was the OrangeCD Player. After installing, my first thought was, “It is not orange!” but I am happy to say that was the last disappointment it gave me. Here are a few more details on it from the developers:

OrangeCD Player is a classic tray-based CD player, featuring a complete set of playback functions, including programmed and random play, and a smart retain-position function (even if you restart your computer every ten minutes, you don t have to listen the first track over and over). It is designed to take as little desktop space as possible. Other features include integrated volume controls, internet title lookup via CDDB/FreeDB, direct track access, customizable menu layout and mouse events.

Now with programs out there that will play music, make toast, and play movies – why do you need this throwback to the stone ages? Well, for me I like to have a few programs that do their jobs very well rather than one program that just does an “OK” job at a lot of things.

Have you ever looked into the USB ready home recievers?? I never had enough money, but allways thought that would be cool, to access all of my music through my network to some nice 15″ Cirwin Vegas and about 700 watts!

    Hi Mitch,

Thanks for pointing out small programs that are not Blootware and do not send back Info one every Song you play like some do , Hee Hee, I`LL be nice and not say what.
Well I see Chris is still trying to get vista to work. Darn its been 7 or so months, LOL. I dumped it in 4 days last May . Even Free it was nothing I would Keep. Oh have you seen what Mac has for Free.
    Boot Camp.
Boot Camp lets you install and run the Windows XP operating system on your Mac
I am a long time windows user BUT with Intel in a Mac and win2000 Pro-XP I just might have to give one a try.

Here is an other good reason to never bother with Vista that is up your ally.
I would give you the link, but I dumped it into Google and it say it cant find it Good old Google and M$

So Google for A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection and click on the first link
    { http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.txt }

It is a very good article but this might get you interested:

“In other words if you’ve sunk a pile of money into a high-end audio setup fed from an S/PDIF digital output, you won’t be able to use it with protected content.” LOL , Just More Vista BS

    Have a Great Day

I still want XBOX to offer TIVO services and connect directly to my cable feed. Then It will truly be a set top box and I can get rid of all that other stuff under my TV. All this internet content is really cool, but the fact remains that none of these devices play commercial content off YouTube or this weeks shows from Premium channels and on the occassion that I am having internet issues I don’t want to be without TV.

  • Randy

I think this is a cool idea, but the downside is that the XBOX constanly over heats and the video chip disconnects from the board.  Every 6 months I have to solder my son’s XBOX video chip back to the motherboard.

then hes playing it too much…

I’ll just stick to my PS3, which doesn’t charge who.  If you want third party service you pay them, but other than that, I can game only for free (aside from paying the internet company)
