Working With Indents In Word (Part IV)

So far you have learned how to set indents using the various markers horizontal ruler. If you don’t like working with the markers on the ruler, there is another way that indents can be set. This is through the Paragraph dialog box as described below.

  1. Select the paragraph that you want to create an indent for.
  2. From the Format menu, click Paragraph.
  3. Verify that the Indents and Spacing tab is selected.
  4. Under Indentation, use the up and down arrows beside Left and Right to set the left or right indentation values.
  5. Click OK to save your changes.

If you want to create a first line indent from the Paragraph dialog box, complete steps 1 through 3 as listed above. Under Indentation, click the drop down arrow below Special to select First Line. Use the up and down arrows to set the amount of indentation. Click OK to save your changes.
