Working With Indents In Word (Part III)

Posted by on Dec 13, 2006 | No Comments

In the previous installment of this series, I outlined how you can alter set the first line indent for a paragraph using the First Line Indent marker on the horizontal ruler. Another type of indent that you may want to work with is referred to as a right indent. This is the place where you want selected text to end and a new line to begin.

You can change the right indentation of text using the Right Indent marker on the horizontal ruler as described below:

  1. Select the text you want to alter the right indentation for.
  2. Verify that the horizontal ruler is displayed across the top of your document. If it is not, click the Ruler option from the View menu.
  3. Locate the Right Indent marker on the horizontal ruler. Drag it to the position where you want the text to end.

Word will automatically move the right indentation for the selected text to the location you specified in step 3.
