Geek Out of Water

As I noted last week, I’m moving this week (and getting married this weekend). I’ve been almost completely offline over the past few days – which has been both a blessing and a curse. There’s a lot of offline work to be done around the new gnomestead. Of course, we also have family and friends visiting for the wedding – as if moving wasn’t stressful enough. Here’s about ten things I’ve learned since unwillingly unplugging:

  • Neighbors with open access points are awesome.
  • Spam filters are almost completely useless anymore.
  • Jingle bells is more fun in groups.
  • Zinc tablets taste awful, but they can curb the common cold.
  • A blog is impossible to update over dial-up speeds.
  • Some of my missing friends have now been found!
  • Ponzi unpacks quicker than she packs.
  • Gas fireplaces produce an insane amount of heat.
  • Women can (and will) change their mind at the last second without telling you.
  • With movers, you usually get what you pay for.
  • McDonald’s has cool Happy Meal toys right now (iZ by Zizzle)

I really, really can’t wait to get back into my geek groove. My new home office is in sore need of an overhaul – all in good time, I suppose.

Chris; Sorry to hear that you feel all out to sea. But, think of the fun you’ll have setting things up exactly the way you want them.
On another front I’m sorry to inform you of James Kim , he was dead,. Found about 11:30 today.
