FinalBurner

So you need to burn a few files on CD, but you do not want to pay an arm and a leg for a software burning suit. I do not blame you. Some of the software packages out there do the job, but are filled with a lot of junk that you will never use. If you need a quick and easy CD or DVD burner, I would recommend checking out FinalBurner.

Here is how the creators of FinalBurner describe the product:

FinalBurner is a freeware alternative to expensive CD and DVD recorders. It allows users to produce professional data, audio, video disks, and ISO images. Many types of media are supported, including CD R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD DL.

When visiting the Web site, the download for FinalBurner might be a little hard to find. You will have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Web page and then hit the download link. The creators of FinalBurner have a lot of great software you can pay for as well, but FinalBurner itself is totally free.

If you need another free burning solution, I would also recommend checking out CDBurnerXP Pro.

Thanks for pointing this one out. CD Burner XP wasn’t much use to me as it doesn’t support Vista and seems to have been abandoned (last updated 2004). Nero is bloated (since V6) and expensive. None of the free tools are exactly fantastic, but this is the most hopeful so far and the only one that supports Vista properly!
