Prevent Search From Searching Sub-Folders

Windows Vista introduces many changes. When you install the operating system you will notice that there are changes and enhancements to the Search functionality. One such change is that when you type something into the search box, it will automatically search all sub-folders of the current folder. To disable functionality:

  1. Press WinKey+R keystroke to open the Run command.
  2. Type “control folders” and click OK.
  3. If User Access Control is enabled, click Allow when prompted.
  4. Click the Search tab.
  5. Uncheck the Include subfolders when typing in the Search box option.
  6. Click OK to save your changes
