Rip-Off Report

I’ve done business with lots of folks over the years. By far, the majority have been reputable, honest folks who gave me what I was owed.

However, there have been a few bad apples in the mix as well. They are the ones who make you leery of doing business with the next guy.

Word of mouth among friends and acquaintances is an effective way to spread the word about the losers. But it’s far from the best way. Word doesn’t get out far enough.

Today’s Family First site strives to solve that problem. It’s called Rip-Off Report. Here’s its mission:

We created the Rip-Off report for everyday consumers who are concerned about being cheated. The Rip-Off report allows YOU, the consumer, to be armed with the opinions and comments of your fellow consumers. Browse the Rip-Off reports for free! Be shocked, be dismayed, but most of all, be informed. The data contained in this site will allow you to make enlightened decisions when dealing with companies and individuals. While it must be understood that the statements made in these reports are not guaranteed to be accurate, this site can be a powerful tool in making decisions and choosing whom you want to do business with.

My take on the site? There are a whole lot of people out there getting ripped off. It’s almost depressing. But word is getting out.

Contemplating doing business with a company? It might be a good idea to do a search on them here. Reading through the comments, it should become clear if there is a real problem with the company or if it’s a matter of an individual who has simply failed to pursue a legitimate refund properly.

There is a lot of raw emotion here. There is also good information. Since all comments are posted, you’ll have to do some digging to separate one from another. One thing’s for sure: it’s fascinating.

bidfuel.com attracted me w/ a free check it out offer, then charged my acct $39.95 w/out my approval.

Ripoff reports is a scam. It is just a way to make money

I’m dismayed by george’s comments. I’ve used the ripoff report for bad business practices implemented by Best Buy, Cingular and my local plumber, and I’ve found it very useful. Why does he say it’s a scam? Doesn’t it give good information? Maybe he got reported for doing something bad?!! I think ripoff report is very helpful, and I think what you say about them is helpful.

George states that this is a scam because it is! Ripoffreport will post anything whether true or not and also post complaints generated by themselves! They then approach the company to alter the listing or the posting’s rank (on Google or Yahoo) for a fee. This site will post anything - check out some of the categories. Tell me how reports against GM belong on the same site as “my mom is a b*tch and I’m abused”? The site is a joke and its attempts to extort money from companies should be as transparent as possible.

beware of Verizon wireless will screw you !They don’t tell all about the plan you got until you get one hell of a bill! They don’t lied they just don’t tell the truth! One guy got over a 2,000 dollar bill with 450 minutes plan .All call other than Verizon will take up your minutes. They don’t tell you that or does the contact.

I got scammed by Ebay also with the BidFuel prank then charge $39 without authorization, that is illegal-How do they get away with it!

I purchased a auto from Automotive Credit, had it for approximately 6 months before losing my job. Of course I couldnt make the payment so they repossessed the car! after a while they said that they sold the car and I would owe the balance of $12,000. What did they sell it for $500? it was a 1999 Sebring and at the time the year was 2001. They attached a garnisment to my check and garned me for 2 1/2 years until the balance was $0! I get a letter from them 3/months later saying that they are going to attach another garn for $5000 because every month the interest grown on the loan, I was only paying the principle $12K now I owe another $5000 in interest! so I guess that I will never be rid of automotive credit! I’m paying $2000 for a $9000 car!

What Do You Think?
