Each version of Windows has come with the oh-so-handy Run command. One thing you will likely notice when you install Windows Vista is that the Run command does not appear on the Start Menu.
The Run command is handy for quickly launching programs so it is worthwhile making a small configuration change to add it back to the Start Menu. You can quickly do so in Windows Vista by completing the simple steps listed below:
- Right click on the Start button, and click Properties.
- From the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog, click Customize.
- Scroll down through the list until you shall find Run command. Check the box next to it.
- Click OK.

You can type in run commands in the search box and they will launch. I’ve typed CMD for the Run command Windows and MSConfig and they have popped right up. I haven’t tried others but those work.

Great for adding Run back on! If you still don’t see it, that means that you have too many options checked in the start menu so uncheck one or two and then you should see it.
