PaperBackSwap.com

I’ve read a lot of books. And I would estimate that 75% of them were of the paperback variety.

I just don’t have a lot of spare room for a big library of hardbound books. But you can keep a whole slew of paperbacks in a cardboard box in the garage.

Plus, I generally treat myself to a Grisham offering when I go out of town for business purposes. I don’t want to carry a big heavy book on the plane.

I’m fortunate to have a thrift store in town that always has a great selection of used paperbacks for a reasonable price. But not everyone is so fortunate.

For them, today’s Family First site might be just the ticket. It’s called PaperBackSwap.com. Here’s its mission:

We are a group of real people who have formed a Club to swap paperback books with each other. No gimmicks. No spam. No advertising. No kidding. We are not a large corporation trying to sell you something. We’re just a group of real folks who wanted a way of trading paperbacks with each other through the U.S. mail. Please read the testimonials and you will understand that this book club is for real.

To join, you list at least nine books that you have available to trade to receive three credits. That means you can request three books from other members, who mail them to you at their expense (around $1.59). In the meantime, if a member requests one of YOURS, you pay the postage (and also receive another credit for each book you mail).

So what a great way to swap books for a nominal fee! And there are a lot of books listed. A search for my favorite SF author, Poul Anderson, revealed 131 books!

So check the site out and join for free if you’re interested.
