The Recovery Console is a useful tool for troubleshooting. You can use it to access volumes that cannot be accessed when you are in Safe Mode. You can run the Recovery Console from the Windows Server 2003 CD or you can install the utility on your hard drive. The nice thing about installing it is that you don’t need your Windows Server 2003 CD to run the program. The installation process is very simple. Keep in mind though that it does require 7 MB of free disk space.
- Insert your Windows Server 2003 CD. Close the setup screen if it appears.
- Click Start and select run.
- Type in the following command where x is the letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive: x:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons.
- Click OK.
- Click Yes to confirm the installation of the Recovery Console.
- Click Esc if you do not want to connect to the Internet.
- Click OK.
- Restart your computer.

I’m having the same problem, except my PC does not strart Windows at all. It does not recognise the internal hard drives. Is it possible to boot the computer with Windows Server 2003 and then install only “x:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons” ?
Is there any othe rway to fix the comp? will Linux (Ubuntu) be helpful? I need to run a database written on MS Acess. It has a whole bunch of Macros. I’m afraid the macros will not work in Linux.
Also there is a color printer, bunch of programs wich came preinstalled, entire network, which are also supposed to work properly after recovery…:P
Thank you,
Bayram
