Disable User Account Control In Windows Vista Using MSCONFIG

  • No Related Post

Windows Vista uses a feature called User Account Control or UAC to limit the privileges of regular user accounts. UAC ensures that all user accounts that are not part of the local administrators group run with no administrative privileges. This feature is enabled by default. However, in some situations you may want to disable it and there are multiple ways that you can accomplish this. One method is by using MSCONFIG.

To disable UAC using MSCONFIG:

  1. Click Start and click Run.

  2. Type msconfig and click OK.
  3. Click the Tools tab.
  4. Click the Disable UAP option.
  5. Click the Launch button.
  6. The command window will open. Close the window when the command is complete.
  7. Close the MSCONFIG window.
  8. Restart your computer.

You can enable this feature again by completing the steps described above, only this time you will select the Enable UAC option.
