Save Your Table Dimensions

The default setting for creating a new table in Word is 5 columns and two rows. I rarely ever create a table with 5 columns. Normally my columns have a maximum of two or three columns. However, each time I create a new table I have to adjust these settings. Then I discovered that I can tell Word to remember my table settings for next time.

To configure Word to remember your table dimensions:

  1. From the Table menu, point to Insert, and click Table.

  2. Configure the Table size settings that you want to use.
  3. Configure any additional table format settings.
  4. Click the Remember dimensions for new table option.
  5. Click OK.

The next time you insert a new table, Word will use the settings you configured in the steps above as the default table settings.
