Create A Column Heading In Word 2003

If you have multiple columns on a single page, you may not want multiple headings for each one. You might want to have a single heading for all your columns. This is easy to accomplish in Word. All you have to do is add the heading text and change it back to single column.

The exact process for creating a single heading is described below:

  1. From the View menu, click Print Layout.

  2. Type your heading at the beginning of the left column. Press Enter.
  3. Select the heading text you just added.
  4. From the Standard toolbar, click the Columns button.
  5. Select a single column.

Now you will have a single heading across the top of all your columns.
