Configure XP SP2 Windows Firewall To Block All Traffic

There are many new security enhancements in Windows XP Service Pack 2. Many of these enhancements pertain to the Windows Firewall. Your firewall now has the capability to run in a client-only mode. This means that the firewall does not allow any exceptions. This setting is particularly useful when you are working in environments that are less secure.

When you run your firewall in client-only mode all traffic will be blocked. You can configure the XP firewall to run in client-only mode using the steps outlined below (remember as well that service pack 2 must be installed).

  1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and select the Security Center.

  2. From the Security Center, select Windows Firewall.
  3. The Windows Firewall dialog box will appear.
  4. Place a check beside the Don’t allow exceptions options.
  5. Click OK to close the Windows Firewall dialog box.

..So I did … BUT
any application bypasses access to internet, it works!
The static content of the standard log file “\WINDOWS\pfirewall.log” is
#Version: 1.5
#Software: Microsoft Windows Firewall
#Time Format: Local
#Fields: date time action protocol src-ip dst-ip src-port dst-port size tcpflags tcpsyn tcpack tcpwin icmptype icmpcode info path

What is to be done to make “Windows Firewall” beeing a firewall?

My configuration: XP, SP2, Windows Defender Beta 2, LAN/DSL-Router

Cheers
Thomas
