Everyone maintains their files and folders differently whether it is between family members at home or co-workers in an office. Some users will diligently clean up their folders and files on a regular basis, getting rid of anything that is no longer needed. Others will continue to save, never bothering to delete what they no longer use. In the end, you will find that some users consume far more disk space than others.
You can use the Disk Quota feature in Windows Server 2003 to monitor how much disk space users are consuming. Alternatively, you can use a Windows Server 2003 Resource Utility called the User Disk Usage Tool (Diskuse.exe) to monitor how much disk space individual users are consuming. This can assist when it comes to resource planning and determining whether users are wasting disk space or additional space needs to be added.
