Download Windows Vista
Since you and I are friends, I’m going to give you a top secret Web site where you can download your own copy of Microsoft Windows Vista (beta 2). Whatever you do, don’t share this link with anybody else – we wouldn’t want the whole world testing the next version of Windows, would we? So, if you think you’re ready for the power that is Windows Vista (or if you want to ignore my Vista feedback and Mistake acknowledgements), head over to this super secret URL and download Vista. Of course, you’re installing it at your own risk – and you should probably send Microsoft plenty of feedback so that they can be sure to fix the bugs that you uncover. Don’t ask me how I pulled this off for you, though – because it took a lot of convincing to do. Okay, so I’m half-kidding and half-serious. Anybody can download and install Windows Vista Beta 2 today:
We invite you to be among the first to experience the clarity that Windows Vista can bring to your world. The Windows Vista Customer Preview Program makes a pre-release edition of Windows Vista Ultimate broadly available to the public for the first time. This is beta code and should not be used in a production environment or on a main machine in the home. Beta 2 is intended for developers, IT professionals and technology experts to continue or begin their testing of Windows Vista. Before you decide to use Beta 2, you should feel comfortable with installing operating systems, updating drivers, and general PC troubleshooting.
I’d say that many Gnomies are up for this task, wouldn’t you? It’s a landmark event, regardless. Microsoft is casting the net wider than ever before, showing up every other commercial OS vendor on the planet – letting power users comb through beta code to send them feedback and experience Vista for themselves. It’s a gutsy move, but an overwhelmingly postive one for Microsoft. Instead of limiting their test partners to a select few this time, they’re letting ANYBODY get a copy of Vista. Of course, if you don’t have broadband, you can order a DVD from the site. Then again, if you don’t have broadband, you probably also don’t have a computer system that could handle Windows Vista in the first place. I’m encouraging you to do this, folks – but not on a primary work machine. Microsoft really needs your feedback. Tell them what you like and what you don’t like – root out every problem and write about it! If you don’t have your own blog, send your extensive feedback to me and I’ll post it in future reports. And… what are you waiting for?! Download and install Windows Vista beta 2 already.
