Since you and I are friends, I’m going to give you a top secret Web site where you can download your own copy of Microsoft Windows Vista (beta 2). Whatever you do, don’t share this link with anybody else - we wouldn’t want the whole world testing the next version of Windows, would we? So, if you think you’re ready for the power that is Windows Vista (or if you want to ignore my Vista feedback and Mistake acknowledgements), head over to this super secret URL and download Vista. Of course, you’re installing it at your own risk - and you should probably send Microsoft plenty of feedback so that they can be sure to fix the bugs that you uncover. Don’t ask me how I pulled this off for you, though - because it took a lot of convincing to do. Okay, so I’m half-kidding and half-serious. Anybody can download and install Windows Vista Beta 2 today:

We invite you to be among the first to experience the clarity that Windows Vista can bring to your world. The Windows Vista Customer Preview Program makes a pre-release edition of Windows Vista Ultimate broadly available to the public for the first time. This is beta code and should not be used in a production environment or on a main machine in the home. Beta 2 is intended for developers, IT professionals and technology experts to continue or begin their testing of Windows Vista. Before you decide to use Beta 2, you should feel comfortable with installing operating systems, updating drivers, and general PC troubleshooting.

I’d say that many Gnomies are up for this task, wouldn’t you? It’s a landmark event, regardless. Microsoft is casting the net wider than ever before, showing up every other commercial OS vendor on the planet - letting power users comb through beta code to send them feedback and experience Vista for themselves. It’s a gutsy move, but an overwhelmingly postive one for Microsoft. Instead of limiting their test partners to a select few this time, they’re letting ANYBODY get a copy of Vista. Of course, if you don’t have broadband, you can order a DVD from the site. Then again, if you don’t have broadband, you probably also don’t have a computer system that could handle Windows Vista in the first place. I’m encouraging you to do this, folks - but not on a primary work machine. Microsoft really needs your feedback. Tell them what you like and what you don’t like - root out every problem and write about it! If you don’t have your own blog, send your extensive feedback to me and I’ll post it in future reports. And… what are you waiting for?! Download and install Windows Vista beta 2 already.

WHITOUT WINDOW VISTA COMPUTERE IS MEANINGLESS THINK

it will be great if this link works properly…

Wow. How stupid do you think that people are? Obviously pretty dumb, and sad to say a lot of people are pretty uninformed. This is an obvious advertisement meant to promote another product of microsoft. Personally, if you had ever really used a microsoft product IN YOUR LIFE, then you wouldn’t be so optimistic about pushing it like a grand new thing. Ok, you guys want to know what Vista is? I’ll tell you, Vista is a version of windows XP (they took XP and added in a little 3rd praty programming). Its PRETTIER, and more shiny, in fact that seems to be the main focus of it. They added in some programs that you would normally download for free, and market it at a nice high price as some revolutioinary breakthrough. Just as XP and all of the microsoft OS’s before this, this is going to be a piece of OVERPRICED, SHODDY, worksmanship. I went through their site, I didn’t find all that much about how they fixed all of the annoying, critical flaws in XP’s design, common sense leads me to believe the lack of emphasis in the advertisement of this area means the lack of development of this area. So go ahead, go and download this crappy test product, just so you have to pay hundreds of dollars for the full crappy version later. Oh and it doesn’t stop there, if you want to keep XP, you will be slowly, but surely forced out of it. Just like all of the other previous versions of windows. These people want your money for a product that doesnt deserve it, and the poster of this article is obviously one of them. Before you dismiss my long comment as “some rant by a person who obvious has a previous bias against microsoft”, let me confirm your suspicions. I used to be a microsoft fan, but after years of their products letting me down, and them simply sitting back in their expensive houses payed for by money they swindled from people, smiling and always pushing their latest product as “the greatest thing ever”, abandoning the people who preferred previous versions in an act to force them to upgrade, and overall delivering a overrated, underdeveloped, overpriced products again and again…. well, i just got sick and tired of it, so now I dont trust a sleazy, lying, manipulative company, but I can sleep at night because I have a good reason to. So if you want my advice? Get a different OS, I dont care which, most are better in all sorts of ways, people want different things, and mac and windows are not the only OSs out there. Get what works best for you, and if that is a copy of windows? Boycott their overpriced upgrades, make them fix the version you have before they release a more broken one. Or best of all, steal a few copies of their OSs through file sharing or something, make them consider placing quality higher on their “to-do list” to appease their customers. After all, if a company does not respect its customers, how can it expect them to respect it?

way to go,the mastermind!couldnt have said it better!!!

Vista is the only one operating system from microsoft that can be a competetor with Mac. the rest are like playing games with codes on pc.

i want vista for free…………….

why need of vista? just work on xp …coz vista will update with several packs so wait

[...] Vista Ultimate Extras - DreamScene Now Available For Download - Preview Only Vista Ultimate Extra has made available the PREVIEW release of DreamScene for download for those who have the Ultimate Edition of Vista. Why Microsoft is releasing a Preview instead of the full versions in unknown. So I fired up Vista Ultimate and downloaded DreamScene Preview. Plus a few other updates were available as well. To get DreamScene working you need to go to Control Panel - Personalization - Desktop Background and from the drop down menu select Windows DreamsScene Content, which currently is only one [1] single mpg clip about 23.5MB in size. And you need to select how the picture should be position at the bottom of your screen. Click the OK button and your set. WOW ! More eye candy. The background now moves in a flowing form - animation. One of the options in the Sidebar I have selected was a monitor for CPU and RAM. After setting DreamScene up, I noticed that CPU was hovering from 10 to 34% while DreamScene was functioning. Which lasted all of about 5 minutes. IMHO - I don’t like it. I went back to my static background. To mastermind
Wow. How stupid do you think that people are? Enought stupid to convince other what to install on there own PCs. Like some kind of Guru or religious fanatic who claim that is there god is better. People have right to spend own money on anything what they want some buy Mercedes some Hyundai, what is wrong with that.

please i love the windows vista

THNK YOU

So…….we have those who like Vista and XP OSs and those who don’t like them, or Microsoft in general. I have no problem with people disagreeing in opinion, but have the operating systems that Microsoft put-out really been this disappointing? I’m a PC-purist myself, partly due to the limitless options PCs inherently instill. For under a grand I built my very own PC that blows a $4000 G5!!! out of the water in performance benchmarking. Furthermore, Microsoft has made abundantly clear they are NOT going to pursue individuals for piracy; they never have unless a rather large profit is being made, and even then it’s rare. I hear a lot bitching about price when it comes to Microsoft, specifically from Mac purists = irony. I mean really…if you know anything about the internet you shouldn’t have any problem locating a free version of Windows with ease. Sure they have patches to fill but why do so many people compare and bash Microsoft when everything they sell can be download for FREE! There isn’t any science to how this is done either; torrents, P2P, etc! Maybe Macs are more stable, but I’m just not rich and or dumb enough to buy one yet. I can fix MY problems myself, and yet Macs aren’t very configurable in comparison, are they? I’m actually not too sure about that one so if anyone would like to reply to this I’d appreciate your input.

Yea… I thought that was the whole idea….? The reason why anyone would buy/download Vista was to get a shiny looking OS. I mean… thats the only reason why I want it.

Hey, let me tell you guys about windows vista.. It sucks. I mean, it really does..

It is just basically like what the other person said… .Nothing but shiny new features and other crap….transperencies.. (Spell Check.) and to top it all off, it needs almost a gig and a quarter to run on the computer… I mean, Windows XP works fine… and to say something, if you guys really want the looks of Vista, but you don’t want to crash your system, I have a website that you can download the vista skins pack… all it does it use only a mere % of your memory, and it just changes the style of XP to vista… no need to worry about the beta version…. but if you want the link to it, just copy and paste the URL…

and another thing to say about windows vista, I really don’t see a fassaz in it…. what so special about a operating system that is shiny and transparent? Nothing at all.. but Windows XP works just as well.

Hope this helps most of you people.

ttyl guys later

Hey….I forgot to mention about something else…. and to that guy that says about that secret link to the Vista Beta thing… you can go to jail for that.. YOU DID NOT get permission from Microsoft to actually let people download the vista beta operating system.

Your just lucky no one is trying to track you down and suing you for large sumps of money……….. let me take that back.. not just no one… Microsoft to be exact…. So you need to watch what you are doing.

And let me ask you this question… since it is a beta… and you already know that if something happens, they cannot reinstall windows again, unless they go buy a copy of XP from walmart or something… Why let people get it buddy? common sense…. I might be 12 years old, but I think I might know more than you.

So yeah….

A 12 year old said all that, omfg.

Windows vista is awsome

i have the key code for windows vista ultimate because i mnaged to write it down from the cd but i lost it. is there a way i can download it to type the keycode in .
please help.

to david : just to correct you no you cant get suied for showing a site that you can download software from especially if your not the one hosting the site and secondly expecially if its a beta version, the only way you could face any sort of prosiction is if you where selling the software, so yes your 12 your a child and hopefully soon you will realise to think before you blurt out nonsense.

as far as vista gose its another pathetic program from the criminals of the computer world they have forced the masses to buy there rubish for years, every other software program is designed to run on microsot OS, so leaves you with no choice unless you have some computer knowledge, which is only the minority

if you want vista buy the disc fro pc world

Window vista is best

Missed that last comment, on the video…was the woman saying “It’s slick!” or “It sucks!” ?

I dunno about that trailer…..yep…..we hear bad things about Vista….including those who haven’t tried Vista yet……we hear pretty bad things about drinking mercury too….doesn’t mean I’m gonna go try it lol.

Unfortunately I’m stuck with Vista until I stick a duel os on here lol.

To each their own-
Suz

Oh, and P.S.–

Doesn’t it seem logical to go from windows…..to like hm…..a picture window? maybe a bay window? Jumping from a window to the breathtaking panoramic view that defines a vista…..well…..happily Ma Gates is a fast learner lol.

Does anyone know where you can download Windows Vista?
Preferably legally.

Used Vista, liked it and hated it! Got Vista with my new laptop pre-installed. It was working fine at the beginning. Then after a couple of months it started crashing and becoming slow. To surf the internet came extremely slow. I formatted my laptop and installed XP SP2. The internet is really fast now. Vista looks really nice but think carefully before upgrading.

However, my Toshiba Satellite M200 laptop drivers are not working with XP SP2 (can’t use sound card, modem, etc). I would really appreciate if somebody can help. Thanks!
