I love watching video online. Streaming technology has been rapidly improving, and the online viewing experience is a lot more tolerable nowadays than it was even a year or two ago. Since the barrier for entry into producing and distributing online video is so small, wannabe directors and actors have been filling up servers with random videos for all of us to watch. As you’ve probably already noticed, traditional media has been taking note of this success, and from time to time, you’ll see Web videos played on television shows. However, one of the biggest problems with video on the Internet is just finding it. Truveo has acknowledged this issue, and is working to resolve it.
The interface is simple enough, which shows that they’ve learned that complication and searching don’t go together. Search for whatever you want or follow through with the popular searches to see what you can find on any subject that you prefer. Truveo doesn’t play the files natively, but instead, it pools all of the clips and their sources together and then links you to the goods. Unfortunately, a number of the recent links that were provided to me led to files that were no longer available, so hopefully the index will be kept more current as time passes.
