Family Game Nite

Some of our most precious childhood memories are those of the family games we played. Of course, I’m an old-timer, so I recall playing with rocks in the cave while Dad drew pictures of mammoths on the wall!
But seriously, folks… Games like Monopoly, Sorry!, Skip-Bo, Scrabble, and one I particularly fondly recall called Probe were parts of all of our childhoods.
Today’s Family First site celebrates the tradition of family games. It’s called Family Game Nite. Here’s its mission:
For a number of years now, we have had a family tradition of getting together at least one or two times a week, after dinner, to play a variety of board games, card games, and just plain game games. It’s been a great way to bring the family together in a form that doesn’t involve a computer, TV, or movie screen! Not that those aren’t legitimate and often necessary forms of entertainment, but the “face time” inherent in playing a board game together really can’t be beat. The plan for this blog is to document, hopefully in an entertaining and interesting manner, the best family-friendly games out there. Fortunately, we’ve got a lot of games! I believe when I went through our closets, shelves, cupboards, and varous other hidey-holes, I found in excess of 70-some games!
This is a really cool site. Games are rated, details are given as to price, age range, ease of learning, and length of game time are documented.
The blog started in March, so if you don’t see your favorite game here yet, keep tuning in. There will be at least 70 on there, and no doubt more.
Man, I hope he finds a copy of Probe. That was one cool word game…
